How do I unlock my domain for transfer?
There are two ways to remove the Registrar-Lock from a domain name in the Manage -> Domains section of your account; individually, using the "Unlock" button, and in bulk, using the "Bulk Unlock" tool.
To remove the Registrar-Lock from a domain name individually:
- Go to the "Domains" page in the "Manage" area of your account.
- Use the search tool to locate the domain name you want to unlock.
- Click on the "Unlock" button corresponding to the domain name and a pop-up window will launch.
- Note down the randomly generated Authinfo code that appears the text box, or *enter your own code in place of the randomly generated one.
- Select the checkbox named "Unlock domain until...".
- Click the "Submit" button to confirm your selection.
- The domain name will be released from the default Registrar-Lock for 5 days. For this time it will appear with the status Active.
- After this period your domain will return to the default Registrar-Lock status.
OR
To remove the Registrar-Lock for several domain names at once using the "Bulk Unlock" tool:
Please note, the maximum number of domains that you can process with this tool at once is 1,000.
- Go to the "Domains" page in the "Manage" area of your account.
- Click on the "Bulk Unlock" button at the bottom of the page.
- Enter the domains you wish to unlock into the text box labeled “Unlock Domains”, one domain per line.
- Note down the randomly generated Authinfo code that appears the text box, or *enter your own code in place of the randomly generated one.
- Click the "Submit" button to confirm your selection.
- The domain names will be released from the default Registrar-Lock for 5 days. For this time it will appear with the status Active.
- After this period your domain will return to the default Registrar-Lock status.
*Authinfo codes are now required to contain:
- a number
- a symbol
- an uppercase letter
- a lowercase letter
- and must be between 8 and 16 characters long
