What is an A record?

An A record is a type of DNS record used to map a hostname to a specific IP address.  Generally speaking, you would use an A record to associate your domain name with an IP address provided by your hosting server.

For example, if you needed example.com to resolve to 192.0.2.0 , you would need to create an A record.
